To understand energy-shifting requires an understanding of how we create our lives.

Basically, we create how our lives look and feel (the structure of our reality) based on our individual energetic blueprints. Think of an architect who draws up a blueprint for a new building. We are the architects of our life.

Our energetic blueprints comprise of everything we do, believe, think and feel. And how we individually ‘do, believe, think and feel’ on a moment-by-moment basis establishes patterns/habits/routines that are often repeated without conscious control.

Most people feel stuck reliving the same patterns over and over again. They may think, “That’s just the way it is.” Or they may ask themselves in frustration, “Why is this happening to me again? Why can’t I get past this? Why is this so hard? What is wrong with me?”

We can have conscious control over how we feel and what we experience however. We effect change by becoming aware of our mostly subconscious behaviors and beliefs that create what we don’t like or want, and then consciously choosing a new belief or behavior that supports us better.

When you choose to live by new belief systems, new behaviors and new perspectives, you literally change your energetic blueprint. You shift the energy and as a result can experience a new reality.

You can go from someone who never wins anything to suddenly winning a boat-load of stuff. You may be struggling to get new clients/customers and then shift to a reality where it’s easy to get clients and you work a lot less. The possibilities are endless.

This is what I mean by energy-shifting.

As a life coach, I have found harmony in my work and family life by becoming clear on what I needed to do in order to make myself happy – but it wasn’t always this way. For a long time I wasn’t really living; I was participating in life on autopilot. Each morning, I woke up feeling numb and dreading the work that I was doing at that time, not aware of all that I had created in my life.

I finally realized that by saying over and over “someday,” I was holding myself back from feeling joyful in the present moment! By becoming aware of this habit that I had created, I could then choose to believe something else, something that resonated with what I wanted to attract into my reality. This action of creating new habits allowed me to attract what I wanted as opposed to what I didn’t want. Awareness is never-ending. We continue to evolve and expand every moment of our lives by taking care of ourselves in order to attract a constant flow of abundance into our lives.

Get in touch with your feelings
My first real introduction to energy work was when I was in school to be an esthetician. It was there that I first heard about Reiki, Polarity, acupuncture, shiatsu and many other energy modalities. Energy work helps to clear stuck energy and keep the good vibes flowing. Whenever I was going through a rough time, the perfect book, person or solution would come to mind. The more I followed this inner guidance/energy, the easier my life became. The funny thing was I clearly remember saying to myself, “Is this too good to be true?”

Now, I acknowledge my feelings objectively in order to manage my emotional energy or emotional charge, positive or negative. I choose to stay in a higher charge/vibration, so it is necessary to stay neutral when sorting through my feelings. Instead of judging my feelings, I look objectively at a situation and decide what I want to do in order to move forward. I utilize my emotions as a guide  to get clear on what I want and what I don’t want. Expressing how I feel on paper has made it easy to uncover any beliefs that are holding me back.

Let go of perfection
Growing up felt like a struggle. I never really fit in; I wasn’t comfortable at home. I jumped from one achievement to another, expecting to find lasting joy but never really getting there. I hated my life — it was so hard, and I was tired. It was always, Do a little more. Learn a little more. You don’t know enough. I felt unworthy, unappreciated, taken advantage of and angry.

I realized that the person I was angry at was me, for not appreciating myself, seeing my own value and giving time to myself. I was tired of feeling like the victim, of promising myself that someday I would have everything I wanted in life. It then became clear that if I wanted others to treat me a certain way, I needed to hold the vibration that would reflect it back to me. This realization allowed me to focus on my own happiness.

Get clear on what YOU want vs. what others want
I permanently took the pressure off myself to be perfect by knowing that everything already is perfect. I stopped allowing others’ needs and opinions create my life. Instead of doing what I thought everyone else wanted me to do, I started to do what I wanted to. By slowing down enough to appreciate the abundance that already existed in my life, I had set the pace to understand my emotions and what they were telling me.

As a result, my life has transformed in all areas because I take time out of each day to stop “doing.” I take care of myself on both an inner and outer level. I focus on my inner self with quiet music or silence, which lets my inner voice speak and give my mind a rest. I use this time to script about my thoughts, feelings and inspired actions. Taking care of myself on an outer level involves massages, acupuncture, holistic exercises, and walking.

Live abundantly
Using the law of attraction means letting go of past experiences that have held you back and caused emotional chaos in your life. Your experiences shape your beliefs, and your beliefs create your future. What you believe for yourself comes from how you want to feel as a result of the energy that you put into the universe. It’s about choosing your life, moment to moment.

Now, I’m getting everything done as a mom, wife and entrepreneur with less effort. The power is in your energy — I’m living my life empowered and mentoring others to do the same.

One of the goals I declared in my 90-day challenge is to become more active.

So I made myself get up early this morning and go to yoga class. While I was doing the exercises I noticed that my mind was wandering and thinking. I kept on bringing my awareness back to my body and the present moment but it would continue to wander off.

But then about 20 minutes into the class, something clicked and I was completely present. My mind quieted down and I was feeling completely blissful.

At this moment, I had the ‘a-ha’ that if we get into the habit to establish a specific rhythm for ourselves, it is easier to fall back into that rhythm when we notice we’re out of it. (So if I had been consistent with keeping myself present, it may not have taken me 20 minutes to get my mind to quiet down.)

Eventually it becomes natural for ourselves to be in that rhythm. That is the dominant pattern/habit we set up for ourselves.

I left my yoga class feeling completely centered, grounded and at peace. And as I write this, I am still in this space. It is a wonderful space to be in.

This concept of establishing a rhythm affects every area of our lives. Everything is energy. Energy vibrates at different frequencies. We experience each frequency differently.

Think of your heart beating. It has a rhythm or frequency. Don’t you notice the difference with how you feel based on how slow or fast your heart is beating? There are palpable changes in your body.

If you are someone who is always on the go, racing from one place to another, never taking time for yourself, always worrying about what’s going to happen next, etc. etc, then you have established this pattern for yourself. This is your natural rhythm. You will easily fall into this routine. And as a result, you consistently feel stressed and overwhelmed. You may have a faster resting heart rate and higher blood pressure too!

Conversely, if you are someone who takes care of yourself, takes time to appreciate what you have, gets excited about good things in your life, values yourself and uses your time and money consciously, then this is the kind of life you experience because you’ve established this pattern or routine for yourself.

Like attracts like.

Therefore, to change any situation in your life, you need to break the current established pattern by replacing it with a new pattern that you desire.

If you want to experience more prosperity (whatever prosperity means to you), you need to consistently take steps which support your vision. Replace the habits that are influenced by ‘lack thinking’ with habits that promote abundance, value and possibilities.

The little baby action steps you take consistently over time will establish a new pattern for your life. You will be establishing and reinforcing a new vibe for yourself and as a result, you ‘attract’ more of the same. This becomes your natural consciousness.

Establishing a rhythm that you desire also creates another benefit. You don’t experience the roller coaster of emotions that one experiences as a result of ‘stop and go’ action.

The Law of Attraction has grown in popularity over the past years as a result of “The Secret” movie (www.thesecret.tv). And it’s about time. People need to know that they have the power to create their lives and make it however they want.

The Law of Attraction says that we create our reality based on how we’re vibrating. Everything in our lives, including ourselves, is energy and vibrates at a certain frequency. Focusing on a thing or situation draws that thing or situation to us because we essentially become a vibrational match. It doesn’t matter whether we consider it good or bad, the Universe will still deliver.

We have to become more aware of how we’re vibrating in order to create what we want or… prevent ourselves from creating what we don’t want.

How in the heck do we know how we’re vibrating? Great question.

Our emotions let us know how we’re vibrating. If we’re feeling “good”, then we’re attracting more good. If we’re feeling not so good, like worried, fearful, anxious, sad, etc. we’re keeping the good away.

Here are 3 ways you can practice vibrating at a ‘good’ level and harness the power of the Law of Attraction to attract what you want.

1) State your intention. Your intention is a declaration of how you want to feel and what you’d like to experience. By putting your attention on what you want to feel, you’re making the energy work for you. The energy from your intention prepaves the way for you.

I like to state intentions on how I want my day to be and how I want to feel. For example, I may intend to feel joyful and in the flow. I may intend to complete my projects easily. You can use it before a job interview, before a important meeting, maybe before you drive somewhere and intend that you have a safe trip.

This exercise is simple but effective. I find that when I state a daily intention to be focused and to complete my tasks easily, I do. When I forget or think that I am too busy to do it, I regret it because my attention is more scattered and I waste lots of energy.

2) Focus on what’s working. The second way to attract what you want more easily is to focus on what’s working. Be grateful for the things you have and be grateful for the things you want.

Our habit is to focus on what we don’t like. For example, people who want more money are usually focused on how much debt they have, all the bills they have to pay, all the money they don’t have. And that is exactly what they get. That’s the level at which they’re vibrating. But in order to attract more wealth, they need to shift their energy to a higher level by first being grateful for what they do have.

What could you be more grateful for? Having a home? Having food to eat? Your health? Having friends? By continually being grateful, and really feel that in your heart, you raise your vibration and attract more of that of which you’re grateful.

3) Create a vision for yourself. The third way to harness the power of the Law of Attraction is to create a vision of how you’d like your life to be. And emphasize how you want to feel. You can break it down to areas of your life to make it easier.

For example, let’s say you want a new job. What does your ideal career/job look like? What kind of boss would you be working with? What would you be doing? Where would you be working? How much are you making?

Make your vision as clear and as detailed as you can. And remember to add the feelings. How will you feel when you have your ideal job? How will you feel while you’re doing the work. You get it, right?

How you’re feeling or how you think you are going to feel is most important. The feeling is what puts you in vibrational alignment with what you’re wanting. So after you create your vision and get in touch with your feelings, you’ll want to spend a couple of minutes each day imagining/visualizing your vision and feeling the emotions in your body.

By being consistent with these 3 exercises, you will develop powerful ‘manifesting muscles’. Your life will literally change before your eyes and you’ll feel good too.

So many thoughts… so many ideas… so much inspiration…

This often makes it a time consuming process for me to organize the energy and get it down on paper. I’m not complaining though because I know that this knowledge I have is meant to be shared. And. because this info comes out of me in bits and pieces, it encourages me to take more time with it and truly understand its value.

I love this quote about making a career of being happy from Abraham-Hicks.com. I believe it serves as a great reminder for all of us to choose to be happy first and foremost.

Amazing manifestations happen when we are happy. Our vibration increases. Any resistance falls away. We become even happier. Synchronicities and coincidences abound. We just become more enchanted with life. And as we stay in that energetic space, we attract more of the same through the Law of Attraction.

Hope you start ‘training’ for your career of happiness today!

A couple of days ago, I was talking to a colleague of mine, Leah, about how interesting it is to hear people say that they’re trying to get the Law of Attraction to work for them.  Because from what I understand and believe, the Law of Attraction is always working. Leah agreed and related the Law of Attraction to gravity. They both always work. And I completely agreed with her at that time.

However, as I thought more about this, I wondered if this was a valid analogy. The Law of Attraction always works. It just is. It reflects back your energy, all the time.

But gravity…. can be defied. We have planes. We have balloons. We have anti-gravity simulators. There are no anti-Law of attraction stuff…. not that I am aware of anyway.

Well as luck would have it, or perhaps as the Law of Attraction would have it, I landed on a blog post by Lyman Reed, entitled “How to know if the Law of Attraction is working” that not only talks about how the Law of Attraction is like the law of gravity but also clarifies my confusion.

He says that balloons, planes, etc. do not defy gravity but Instead use energy to lift themselves off the ground. They use energy to help them get where they want to be and without this deliberate use of energy, they would just be earthbound.

Wow!

This is just like the Law of Attraction then. We need to deliberately use our energy to get what we want too.

Lyman says this quite eloquently:

What we are really trying to do is get ourselves into alignment with our desires, so that the the Law of Attraction will work to our advantage – its effects in our lives will be desirable.

When we get clear on what we want, we create the energy that automatically attracts to us what we want. As Lyman says, we basically get into energetic alignment with our desires

Wow, this is so cool. The clarity I am getting around this is amazing!

So, everything that is in our lives right now, we have created based on the energy we are currently putting out there. You might say that they are our default settings. And we can go along and live this way if we want. The Law of Attraction will always reflect back the energy we’re holding.

But…

If you want to change your life – customize the settings, if you will – you need to use your energy differently. It takes more energy at first but later it gets easier.  A rocket needs the most energy to lift off but later it requires less energy.

So, if you want to change your life, what will you do differently today?

Today I came across a great blog post, entitled “Is the Law of Attraction that important?“. In this post, the author questions the need for the Law of Attraction because it seems that most people are just using it to get things. And the author suggests that instead of just getting more stuff, we just need to learn to appreciate what we have and learn to be happy.

I couldn’t agree more. In fact, I used to be one of those people who used the Law of Attraction for getting more stuff, new relationships, etc. The reason I wanted more stuff – the new house, new car, new gadgets, better relationships, more money, etc. – is because I thought that once I received these things, I would be happier and more fulfilled. Unfortunately even after manifesting what I wanted, my happiness didn’t last. As soon as I got what I wanted, that initial ‘high’ eventually faded and I would search for the next best thing.

I believe this is why most people are using the Law of Attraction for getting stuff. They’ve come to believe that feeling joy, feeling love, feeling successful, feeling what they want is a result of getting things. And so they keep on getting things in hopes of feeling happier, loved and more fulfilled in their lives.

Unfortunately this is an endless cycle and I’m writing about it here to help you break the pattern. Lasting happiness cannot come from things outside you. It must come from within. We must choose it for ourselves. In this way, we will always be happy no matter what the circumstances are.

At first, it may be difficult because we are so used to basing our happiness on everything around us. But if you really want to be happier, you need to become more aware of these habits. Otherwise you will continue to experience a roller coaster of emotions. Not fun!

So, see if you can be happy today no matter what. Just decide to be happy

Does this mean that the Law of Attraction is completely worthless?

Absolutely not!

But it’ll have to wait until tomorrow. I’ll share how to use the properties of the Law of Attraction as a tool to change your life.

Many people who first learn about the Law of Attraction get excited because they believe they can finally have what they want.  After all, we get what we focus on… we get what we think about… our reality is a reflection of the energy we’re holding…

But what does this really mean to all of us?

I believe it means total empowerment and No More Excuses.

We control what we focus on and what we think about, right? So we cannot blame our creation on anything or anyone else. We are responsible for what shows up and therefore we can’t make any more excuses for what we don’t like.

It’s time to stop playing the victim. Stop blaming others for making you feel a certain way. Stop blaming others for the way things are. Stop blaming yourself too.

If there’s something you don’t like, make a choice to change it. You’ve always had the power to create your reality and now it’s time to take responsibility for your creations.
